Advanced diploma of civil construction design

You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to work on a variety of public infrastructure building projects such as roads, railways, buildings, water reservoirs, subdivisions, airports, bridges, sewer systems, tunnels, dams, and other public works if you earn this qualification in civil and structural engineering design.

Description

You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to work on a variety of public infrastructure building projects such as roads, railways, buildings, water reservoirs, subdivisions, airports, bridges, sewer systems, tunnels, dams, and other public works if you earn this qualification in civil and structural engineering design. 


Examples of such projects include roads, railways, buildings, and water reservoirs. You will acquire knowledge and experience in the planning and building of civil works through your studies.


You will learn and develop your abilities in:

  • Directing the design procedures for civil works

  • creating drawings for building design projects using CAD software

  • By using safe design principles, WHS hazards can be reduced.

  • putting together a thorough geotechnical design

  • creating and carrying out business plans

  • designing civil constructions in detail in concrete and steel

  • coordinating project time, scope, and risks

  • creating and upholding a quality system

  • Managing the efficiency of a team


Additionally, you will become familiar with a number of engineering drafting standards and CAD software, such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit.

Entry requirement:

  • Must be at least 16 years old

  • Must show that they finished schooling in their home country in a way that is the same as a Year 10 qualification in Australia.

  • Must show results from an English test that was approved within the last two years (ex: IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English, PTE, or OET)

  • Student Visa must be valid (SSC will assist you in visa application)

Learning and Assessment Methods

This class will utilise a variety of teaching and grading strategies throughout the semester. In most cases, the instructional strategies may consist of Presentations and Discussions, Demonstrations, Individual and Group Activities, Skill Practice, Role Plays, Case Studies, Simulated Scenarios, and Research-Related Activities.


Methods of evaluation typically consist of things like practical observations of tasks, interviews (oral or written), case studies, role playing, reports, research projects, and presentations, amongst other things.
