The Bachelor of Commerce is a flexible and practical degree that comprises foundational courses that provide you with a comprehensive understanding of business and commerce before you specialize in Accounting, Economics, or Finance. 


When you study business at the University of Newcastle, you will be prepared to make a smooth transition from the classroom to the boardroom by gaining skills that employers value.


Our Bachelor of Commerce is designed to prepare students for professional designations with prominent accounting bodies such as CPA Australia, CA Australia and New Zealand, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and the Association of International Accountants (AIA).


In this course, international case studies and cross-cultural analysis are used to create a sense of global citizenship. Through these courses in your chosen major, you will gain an awareness of the interplay between the financial, legal, political, and economic systems, as well as how these factors influence the current business environment in both Australian and global contexts.

During your first year of study for a Commerce degree, you will take courses in a variety of subjects. This first year will offer you with a firm foundation in business and economic foundations, as well as key business growth competencies, before you choose a major. Majors in Commerce

For your Bachelor of Commerce degree, you can pick from three majors, each of which is a specialty within the financial sector of business. We provide cutting-edge business courses that will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in today's fast-paced environment.
