To obtain the certification required to instruct pupils in Years 1 through 6, students take courses from the primary curriculum, including English, mathematics, physics, humanities, social sciences, health and physical education, and the arts. You will also look at effective teaching, testing, and learning strategies.


To broaden your career options, you can choose to specialize in teaching Indonesian or Japanese in primary or secondary schools, English and literacy education, inclusive education for employment in special education schools and centers, or mathematics and numeracy education.

This course will give you the qualifications necessary to instruct pupils in primary schools from Year 1 to Year 6, with the possibility to specialize, including:

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • Higher School Certificate (HSC)/Vocational Higher School Certificate

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma​ and French Baccalaureate

  • Global Assessment Certificate (GAC)​ and GCE- (O, AS, A) Levels​

  • Successful completion with a minimum Grade Point Average of 4.0 or higher

  • Total score of 24 or higher and Grade average of 10 or higher

English Language Requirements

  • A scaled score of 50% or more in ATAR English,

  • (IELTS) overall score of 6.0

  • Successful completion of a university enabling course

  • A score of 140 or more in the Written English component of the STAT test

  • Successful completion of either a diploma (AQF Level 5 or higher)

  • Two university-level units (AQF Level 7 or higher).
