Description
The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to create and implement suitable educational and care experiences for young children.
You will acquire the skills and information essential to operate effectively as a professional team member in an early childhood service through a combination of face-to-face, online, and practicum-based learning.
These abilities include comprehending legal and ethical standards, interacting with young children and their families, facilitating children's leisure and play, and fostering their holistic development and well-being.
Graduates may work under direct supervision and have limited volunteer supervising responsibilities.
Course structure
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., four days per week (varies by group).
To earn this credential, you must complete 15 core units and 2 elective courses.
Holmesglen has selected elective programs based on industry feedback and employee qualifications.
If you have already finished other qualified elective units, they may be applied to this program's completion.
Assessment
The purpose of assessments is to give chances for students to demonstrate that they have acquired the essential skills and knowledge through a variety of practical exercises and assignments, as required by recognized standards.
Entry requirements
There are no formal admission criteria; however, applicants must be physically capable of working in a field where they may be expected to lift small children, sit on the floor with groups of children, lift and move fairly heavy climbing equipment, etc., while adhering to all WHS regulations.
Additionally, students must be able to participate in evaluable industrial placements in order to properly finish the course. Individual centers/businesses may request proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in addition to a valid Working With Children Check card prior to placement.
Holmesglen also requires applicants be at least 17 at the time they start the course.
You will be required to pass a literacy and numeracy testing and a pre-training interview before enrolling or beginning training. These will help determine your suitability for the course, confirm your training plan, and identify any learning assistance requirements.
