The Commercial Cookery Certificate IV, which is given to students who acquire the skills necessary to advance their culinary careers, is recognized nationally. Learn how to run your business efficiently, develop menu descriptions for your clients, and make delectable food.


Students with this degree are eligible to work in a variety of fields including restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, pubs, cafes, and more.


The following overseas students are target populations for the SIT40516 Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery program: 


  • Seeking to pursue a career as a Chef, Chef de Partie

  • Seeking to enter a new industry sector

  • Seeking a pathway to higher-level qualifications


International students from diverse nations who want to advance their education or career paths by developing their business knowledge and skills. These students are often between the ages of 18 and 35 and have little to no professional experience.


Students may be offshore applicants from abroad or onshore applicants currently residing in Australia. The majority of students consider English to be a second language, so they must successfully complete English language requirements in order to enroll in the course.


For those who already possess the necessary skills and knowledge, credit and/or RPL may be granted, allowing them to finish the course faster.

Entry Requirements

The following criteria must be met to enroll in the Imperial Institute of Sydney. 


  • You have to be at least 18 years old before the program begins;

  • possess an AQF Certificate III or above, or have completed Australian Year 12 or an equivalent program;

  • a course entry interview to ascertain one's aptitude for the course and the needs of the student;

  • satisfy the prerequisites for Australian student visa category 500;

  • have a 5.5 on the IELTS* (test results must be no more than 2 years old).


Documented proof of any of the following can also serve as proof of an individual's proficiency in the English language:


  • Either completed at least a Certificate IV-level course in a recent two years at an Australian RTO, 

  • or at least five years of education in an English-speaking nation where English was the primary language of instruction.


*Take note that other English language exams like the PTE and TOEFL may be accepted. Students must submit their scores so that Australian Federation College can verify they are IELTS 5.5 equivalent.

Learning Outcomes:

After earning this credential, students may continue on to higher level credentials within and/or across the SIT sector, such as the SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management or a variety of other higher-level, higher-level, and/or vocational credentials.
