The Master of Mental Health Nursing programme at VU Online will help you make a positive difference by giving you the specialised skills you need to lead multidisciplinary teams and bring about transformational change. You will also meet the education needs of the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) Credential.


You will build on your nursing skills and learn more about mental health and how it affects people, families, and communities as a whole. This course is meant to give you the skills you need to work well in multidisciplinary teams and use modern approaches to care, even for diverse and vulnerable groups of people.


Learn important skills based on scientific evidence that will help you give people with mental illness ethical, recovery-focused, trauma-informed care that will improve their health.

You can pursue postgraduate studies with VU Online without needing to go to on-campus classes. This makes it simple to accommodate studies around other responsibilities, such as work and family.

You will only study one unit at a time with VU Online using our acclaimed Block Model.

Entry requirements:

  • Bachelor of Nursing at AQF Level 7 or a qualification that is equivalent;

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) OR Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) OR an equivalent registration with the relevant registering authority for applicants outside of Australia;

  • Provide proof from their employer that they work in a mental health setting in writing; OR

  • Completed the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing at Victoria University.

Career:

With the Master of Mental Health Nursing programme from VU Online, you'll learn how to use evidence-based assessment and treatment methods in mental health. 


This class will give you the skills you need to coordinate mental health care, be a leader in mental health nursing, or work in mental health services. This course also gives you the skills you need to work in senior mental health services or as a sessional professor.


The Master of Mental Health Nursing programme from VU Online will also help you move towards a credential from the ACMHN.
