The Master of Sustainable Development program equips students with the information and abilities required for a variety of sustainability-related positions in local, state, or federal government, businesses, and non-governmental organizations. 


Candidates will research state-of-the-art sustainability practices and regulations with regard to issues like energy production, water use, waste management, biodiversity, climate change, urban planning and land use, international development, and sustainability education. 


The core module equips students with a thorough understanding of some of the most important facets of sustainable development practice, including adaptation to climate change, urban and regional sustainability, global, regional, and local sustainability issues and implementation, and sustainability and international development in Asia. 


The professional electives available to candidates to advance their professional skills include project management, ethics, and leading and managing non-governmental organizations. 


Through policy electives, candidates have the opportunity to develop specialized expertise in areas such as environmental impact assessment, energy policy, environmental management, policy, and law. This master's degree includes a research dissertation to aid candidates in expanding their knowledge and honing their research abilities.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements


  • A recognized Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7) or above, equivalent training, even if it is not always in a subject area directly related to the course being proposed, or sufficient preparation from prior study or practical experience

English Language Requirements

To study at Murdoch, you need to know at least a certain percentage of English, which may indicate having to pass a number of English tests.
